In 1971 Pontiac Only Built A Total Of 678 GTO Convertibles And Only 508 Of Them Were Built With This Drivetrain Combination..
The 1971 GTO had another modest facelift, this time with wire-mesh grilles, horizontal bumper bars on either side of the grille opening, more closely spaced headlamps, and a new hood with the dual scoops relocated to the leading edge, not far above the grille.
Power was down slightly because of the change mandated change from unleaded gas to leaded but there was plenty of performance available under the hood. Looks were just as good as performance. All in all, this is one of the most popular muscle cars of the era.
