SOLID NW TERRITORY RARE 911L ONE OF 499 BUILT FOR THE USA MARKET KARDEX DOC

The 911 L Was Limited To Just 499 Examples Built In 1968 Especially For The American Market. The 'L' Designation, (For 'Luxe Or Luxury),' Was Essentially The European Premier 'S' Model Fitted With An Air-Pump Equipped Engine To Meet The Safety And Emissions Regulations Exacted Stateside.
Easily Recognizable For Its Small Side-Marker Lights, Which Are Not Integrated Into The Wrap-Around Tail Lights Or Parking Light Clusters, The 911 L Featured The 1,991-cc Flat-Six Engine, Producing 130 hp And A Top Speed Of 131 mph. This Model Was The Most Expensive Porsche In The American Market With A Sticker Price $600 Over Previous Offerings. It Became An Immediate Success And Instantly Collectible As A One-Year-Only Production Model.

The 911L Retained The 130bhp Engine Of The Original Car And Transmission, With Weber Carburetors.

The 911L Received Black (As Opposed To The Original Polished) Windshield Wipers And The Wipers, By The Way, Now Parked To The Left On Left-Hand-Drive Cars.
Redesigned Door Handles With Recessed Buttons, Window Frames Were Polished Aluminum Instead Of Plated Brass, And The Door Mirror Grew In Size. Inside, The Wood Trim On The Dash Was Replaced By Brushed Aluminum And The Wood-Rimmed Wheel Went, Too, In Favor Of A Black Steering Wheel. The Dials Now Had Black Inside Of Chrome Bezels; Which Is What Butzi Porsche Had Originally Wanted, But The Marketing People Had Demanded A Silver Finish.
